Hand-forged, hammer-textured copper amulet. The amazonite is entangled between 9 holes, and therefore the pattern is slightly dishevelled. As much as we seek and strive for balance, it's important to remember that our environment is unpredictable, and we need to be ready to adjust a roll with the punches. This amulet is adorned with Elder Futhark runes, Mannaz, Othala and Nauthiz.

Amazonite is often associated with protection, universal love, calming and communication.

The rune Mannaz (pronounced “mah-nahz”) translates to man, mankind, human. Mannaz is often associated with humanity, the self,  support, assistance, intelligence, family, mental agility and promoting harmonious relationships.

The rune Othala (pronounced “oh-thee-lah”) translates to inheritance.  Othala is often associated with heritage, tradition, inheritance, ancestral property, family ties, gaining and holding onto wealth, healing, harmonious family relationships and communicating with ancestors.

The rune Nauthiz (pronounced “now-theez”) translates to need, necessity. Nauthiz is often associated with need, necessity, having patience, and staying calm in difficult situations.

The Elder Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabets. It was a writing system used by Germanic Tribes. Runic inscriptions have been found on many artifacts from the 2nd to 8th centuries, including, jewelry, amulets, tools, weapons and runestones.  Many believe the runes hold ancient magics.

  • We ship all of our copper pieces bare.  This means they are not sealed with wax, lacquer or varnish.  The reason for this is that if the bare copper isn't touching your skin, you're not absorbing it and therefore not getting the full benefit of copper's potential.  However, this can leave a green residue on your skin, which washes off easily.  This green mark simply indicates that your body is creating a battery effect with your copper jewelry, as well as absorbing tiny amounts of the copper.  If that is something that bothers you, we recommend sealing it in wax or lacquer.  The easiest way to do this is with clear nail polish.

Typically, as long as you continue to wear your copper jewelry; your skin will rub against it, oiling, cleaning and polishing it.  This will maintain a very rustic, natural-looking patina and level of lustre.  If your copper oxidizes (go green) over time, you can clean it and shine it up with any of a number of jewelry cleaners on the market.  You can also scrub your copper with baking soda and then rinse and dry thoroughly.
